Description

Kara Trott
|
Kara Trott founded Quantum Health in Columbus, Ohio in 1999 with the goal of helping people manage their health and guiding them through the confusing healthcare system. By applying the lessons of consumer behavior analysis and marketing to healthcare, Quantum Health has developed a program known as Coordinated Health/Care™ that now operates in more than 40 health plans around the country, and has held annual claims trend to about 5-6 % over the past six years.
In Coordinated Health/Care, a staff of Care Coordinators works in cooperation with physicians and their office staff to provide patients with information, guidance and assistance in navigating the complex maze of healthcare. By helping direct patients to the most effective and efficient healthcare resource, and getting lab results and other information to the right place at the right time, the Care Coordinators provide a more satisfying healthcare experience while eliminating unnecessary cost.
Today, Coordinated Health/Care is growing rapidly and is catching the attention of industry observers as an innovative, entrepreneur-based innovation in the healthcare industry. The company was featured in the February 27th, 2006, edition of BusinessWeek under the headline:
Steering Patients Through the System
Quantum Health points people to the best care—and saves employers big bucks
Quantum Health was also named a 2005 regional Entrepreneur of the Year in the prestigious Ernst & Young competition recognizing entrepreneurs in more than 40 countries. Kara J. Trott, CEO of Quantum Health, and Randy Gebhardt, President and COO, were also selected by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for a meeting with President George W. Bush on April 15, 2005, during which they explained their approach to healthcare management and cost control for small businesses.

Tom Rieland - General Manager, WOSU Public Media

|
Description
|

Tom Rieland
|
Join us for an exciting event and tour of the new WOSU@COSI. WOSU@COSI is a new digital media center with activities ranging from “live” broadcasts to hands-on digital media exhibits to media literacy camps. The development of this unique and innovative non-profit partnership between WOSU and COSI is part of a wave of cutting edge public media projects across the country.
WOSU Public Media has a history dating back to 1922 and the early days of educational radio. It is a $9.5 million organization with 75 full time staff and is licensed to The Ohio State University.
This presentation will describe the goal of the WOSU@COSI project and how WOSU plans to face the challenges of a world cluttered with media sources and resources. With hundreds of digital television channels, satellite radio, web video and audio sources, podcasts, blogs, and even cell phone video, what is the role of a community funded local public television and radio station?
Tom Rieland has served as General Manager of WOSU Public Media since 2002. A native of Wisconsin, Rieland has 30 years of broadcast experience, beginning his career as a news reporter for commercial radio and television. He supervised the communications center at the University of Mississippi, while receiving a Master’s Degree in Journalism from Ole Miss. For 13 years, he was Director of the Center for Public TV & Radio at the University of Alabama.
Tom has produced over a dozen documentaries broadcast on PBS and has won several regional and national awards as a producer. He is past President of the Ohio Educational Television Stations and of the Ohio Public Telecommunications Alliance and serves on several local boards including the Academy of Leadership & Governance at the Jefferson Center and Columbus Metropolitan Club.
